Onam Celebrations begin in Prasanthi Nilayam

Commencing 6-days of Prasanthi Onam celebrations, the Kerala contingent of devotees presented an evening of soulful Sampradaya Bhajans today, in Prasanthi Nilayam. Earlier, the session commenced with an address by one of the young members of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala, Sri KS Sabarinadhan.

Speaking on the complexities of the world outside, especially in the fields of education and medical care, Sri Sabarinadhan highlighted on the key-role that could be played by the widely networked and ever expansive Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, in augmenting the sectors. The speaker also narrated his association with Prasanthi Nilayam while working on some of the projects by the Tata Sons, an initiative taken by the Tatas after Sri Ratan Tata’s Prasanthi visit some years ago.

An hour-long soulful devotional session ensued, presented by Sri Vittal Vinod Bhagavatar and Party, offering traditional ‘Sampradaya’ bhajans.  Singing in his adept, simple yet impacting devotional style, Sri Bhagavatar along with his accompanists played for over 40 minutes filling the exquisite Prasanthi twilight with the soulful beauty of devotional singing. Sri Vittal Bhagavatar was accompanied by Sarvasree  Rohit Prasad (Mridangam), PA Venkateswaran, Shivashankar Chandrasekharan, Shivashankar Kannan (vocal) along with Smt Kirti Vinod Bhagavar (vocal).

Bhajans continued and the session concluded with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan at 1830 hrs.
