Ganamritham – Devotional Evening by Tamil Nadu Balvikas Alumni…

The Balvikas ‘Musical’ Fraternity of Tamil Nadu presented a soulful devotional evening today, parading hymns in adoration of the One God with many names and forms, on the 4th day of the ongoing Tamil Nadu Week Of Festivity here, in Prasanthi Nilayam. The theme of the evening programme titled ‘Ganamritham’ was adoration of the redeeming power of Divine Darshan, highlighting on the astounding power of Divine benediction.

Beginning with a ‘Jai Ganesh’ invocation in vernacular Tamil, the session went on with hymns and songs in Sanskrit, Telugu and Hindi, apart from a series of songs in Tamil. The evening numbers included an alluring “Shinkaravelane Muruga…” singing on the exquisitely charming beauty of Lord Subramania, with interspersed Raagas, and an evergreen Katrinile Varum Geetham, immortalized by the legendary Dr MS Subbulakshmi.

Remembering the Kabir Vani that, ‘one should remember Him with every single breath, as one is not sure of the very next breath’ and recalling Bhagawan’s dictum that, Lord’s Name is more powerful than His form, the session then drifted into a short spell of Bhajan Medley, highlighting on the greater glory of Naamasmarana.

Beautiful ‘lucid’ commentary interspersion served as an ‘add-on’, making the presentation more transparent.

Winding up the session, an ‘Instrumental Ensemble’ ensued next, involving Violin, Flute, Tabla, Mridangam and Ghatam, transporting the audience, with a short burst of inciting Rhythmic Fusion, to sheer ecstasy.

Bhajans continued and the session concluded with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan at 1815 hrs.
