Thyagaraja Aradhana by Music College Boys…

Paying ‘musical’ tribute to legendary St Thyagaraja, one of the foremost exponents of Carnatic Music, students and staff of Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music offered a Carnatic evening entitled “Thyagaraja Aradhana” today here in Prasanthi Nilayam.
South India’s famous musical fiesta Thyagaraja Aradhana is an annual Carnatic Music Festival held Tiruvarur, wherein Carnatic exponents perform in honour of the legendary Saint.
St Thyagaraja was one of the foremost exponents of Carnatic Music, born in Tiruvarur in Tamil Nadu, lived during the period 1767-1847. After mysteriously initiated by Sage Narada who came in the guise of a Saint, young Thyagaraja later earned expert training under to tutelage of Govinda Dikshitar.
This evening’s concert began with a vibrant number, Jagadanandakarana…, one of the Pancharatna Krithis of St Thyagaraja. Venugana Loluni in Raga Kedaragowlai followed next before a Veena recital ably accompanied by Mridangam. The penultimate number was from the famous Prahladavijayam in Rag Yamuna Kalyani before the concluding number Endaro Mahanubhavulu, one of the Pancharatna Krithis, sung in Rag Sriragam.
For the young learning talents, it was yet another opportunity to offer their talents performing alongside their teachers, singing for the Legend, in the Ultimate Presence Of The Ganalola, Nada Brahma Himself.
Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan’s Thursday special “Narayana Bhaja Narayan Narayana Bhaja Narayan Narayan…”.
Mangala Arathi at 1830 hrs. marked the end of the proceedings.
