Auspicious Makara Sankranthi…

Auspicious as it denotes the beginning of something new, Makara Sankranthi has always been a dotted festival in Prasanthi Nilayam. Makara Sankranthi marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. The day is also believed to mark the arrival of spring in India and is thus a traditional event.

Fresh from the grand culmination of the Sports & Cultural Festival, the refreshed ‘Makara Sankranthi’ morning began on a high note in Prasanthi with a soulful musical offering to Bhagawan.

Presenting the programme, students serving at various institutions in Prasanthi Nilayam offered a compilation o five songs, sung in Kannada, Telugu and Hindi, including a couple of Qawwalis. The songs were Baaro Krishnaiah, famous Shree Kanaka Daasa composition invoking Lord Krishna to devotees’ homes, Jag Mein Sundar Hey…, Oh Merey Sai Baba Tera Har Naam Hamara…, Sharanam Sharanam Sharanam Sharanam… Sayiee Charanam and Sai Baba… Sai Baba…

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhaja Govindam Bhaja Govindam in Bhagawan’s golden voice. Mangala Arathi at 0930 hrs. marked the end of the morning proceedings.
