Friday, November 21st, 2014
Even as Prasanthi Nilayam is basking in the 89th Birthday celebrations of Bhagawan, today, on the 4th day of the week-long celebrations, Sri Shashank Subramaniam, Flautist of International fame, presented a scintillating Carnatic Flute-Concert at the packed Sai Kulwant Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam. The virtuoso artiste, who does not need any introduction, blew ‘life’ into his favourite instrument this evening generating some scintillatingly beautiful pieces as a dedicated offering to Bhagawan.
Shashank began his concert with Saint Thyagaraja’s Nagumo… playing it ‘long’ in precise perfection, with twists and turns, crescendos and decrescendos, much to the excitement of an appreciative audience that sat in rapturous attention. Following it up with Alaypayuthe…, Vaishnava Janato…, Bhagawan’s famous bhajan “Premamuditha Manase Kaho…”, he concluded the concert with another scintillating piece, a Thillana.
The accompaniment of the Mridangam and Violin added rich colour to this evening’s captivating offering. The artiste was accompanied by VU Ganesh Prasad on Violin and Sai Giridhar on Mridangam.
All the artistes were felicitated at the end of the session. Bhajans continued and ended with “Chiththa Chora Yasoda Ke Bal…” in Bhagawan’s voice. Mangala Arathi at 1820 hrs. marked the end of the session.
