Anantapur Water Project Extension…

Bhoomi Pooja for the commencement of the extended Anantapur Water Project would be held at 9 hrs.  at the Agricultural Market yard, near MRO’s office, Kothacheruvu, tomorrow, 24 January 2013, morning and would be attended by senior officials from the Ashram.

The proposed extension would cover all habitations in the old Sathya Sai Taluk covering the three mandals of Bukkapatnam, Kothacheruvu and Puttapparthi, enabling provision of clean drinking water to an additional 1 lakh people residing in these villages.

It may be recalled that the Board of Trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust had met the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the 31st March 2012, offering the extension of the Anantapur Water Project to include an additional 118 habitations.

Subsequently, upon receipt of order of approval from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has entrusted the work to M/s Larsen and Toubro, who had executed the previous project. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 75 to 80 crores.

The previous Anantapur Water Project undertaken by Bhagawan in 1994 covered 731 villages of the Anantapur District. This was followed by other projects at Medak and Mahbubnagar (November 2000), Chennai (April 2002) and East and West Godavari (May 2006). These projects originally implemented by the Trust, were subsequently, upon completion, handed over to the respective State Governments for running and maintenance.
