Convocation Drama…
Saturday, November 23rd, 2013
Celebrating the occasion of 32nd Annual Convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning students from SSSIHL presented a drama entitled Sai Kathamrutham – Stepping Stone to God this evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam.
The storyline of the drama was adapted from Shirdi Sai Satcharita, the famous story of a millionaire seeking quick Brahma Jnana. Expanding the story with the addition of some beautiful episodes the presentation lists out the essentials one need to seek before attaining Brahma Jnanam or Kaivalyam.
To the seeker of Brahma Jnana, who sought after Shirdi Baba in all impatience, Bhagawan taught him through a live experience that he is still bonded by his passion and desires for his wealth. When Bhagawan was ‘frantically trying’ (enacting a drama) to get Rs 5/- on loan from a couple of persons, the millionaire who was already in possession of 25 notes of 10 rupees in his pocket never had the thought of parting the money for the Master from whom he was seeking Brahma Jnana. So, the first step in Brahma Jnana in detachment. Elaborating this point in detail a flashback story of Kaivalya was shown. Kaivalya, who was asked by the Prime Minister of the country to act as a Brahma Jnani, with a perverted aim, finally end up becoming a complete recluse who developed greater detachment much against his older nature.
Next step in Brahma Jnana is Shraddha and Saburi. Illustrating this lesson the students brought out a beautiful story Bhagawan used to narrate during the golden Trayee session days… the story illustrates undying passion of a young seeker who relentlessly, with all out determination, pursued to possess a parting “kaivalya’ mantra left by his departed Master. At the end, after long ordeals, when his fate took him to the royal court to satiate his dying hunger, the king upon knowing thesad- story of the seeker decided to help him out get back the mantra leaf that was in the possession of a dancer by name Ratnavali. Ultimately, when finally the mantra reached the young disciple, by a mere glance into the insciption the seeker attained his goal…a classic example of Shraddha and Saburi.
The final episode was a depiction of God’s grace that is essential to attain Brahma Jnana…as God alone can take one to cross the final hurdle…. a jouney one has to traverse with the Lord. Depicting the beautiful story of Hari Gopal, a die-hard devotee of the Lord of Badri, it was emphasised that Lord is always there for the devotee, and when, with a pure heart he calls Him out, He is ever there to respond to the call…taking care of the devotee…all along. Hari Gopal, in pursuit of his life-long ambition set out for Badrinath with his hard earned money for long 40 years only to reach at a time when the gates turned closed for the next six months. Despite his wailing when none was there to pay heed to him, he finally turned resolute deciding not to leave the premises until the gates turn open after six months. God, Who is all merciful gave Hari Gopal His company for six months, in the process with His Divine magic, converting his six months into a day…finally granting him darshan of Lord Badri when the gates turned opened, the ‘next day’ for Hari Gopal.
All the participants were felicitated at the end of the drama presentation. Bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi at 1900 hrs.
