Celebrating Sri Krishna Janmashtami…
Tuesday, August 19th, 2014
The Stealer Of Hearts – Chittha Chora – ruled over again. On the auspicious morning heralding the Divine Birth Of Bhagawan Sri Krishna, soaked in nostalgic memories of yore, memories of ever enchanting Presence of The Lord in physical guiding and leading the proceedings in the yester years, Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with festive fervor here in Prasanthi Nilayam today.
After the customary Rudram chanting Percussion Band from the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus set the tone for the morning celebrations with a brief Nadaswaram recital. On the morning, overcast with slight drizzle, even as the auspicious sounds of Nadaswaram beat the air, it was time for the customary Gokulam procession to enter in. Soon, the colourful procession of quadrupeds and birds from Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam entered into the Sanctum Sanctorum to the accompaniment of Vedic chanting by the students. The quadrupeds included cows and calves, deers, rabbits, peacocks, doves and the canine ‘Jolly’ from the senior hostel. The cows had been covered with newly made embroidered, multi‑coloured silk duppattas, and were led by batches of students.
Senior administrators of Ashram fed the animals and birds, a tradition set by Bhagawan, before Mangala Arathi offering to Bhagawan.
Music programme by the students continued. Soulful rendering of Panduranga Ashtakam was followed by the celestial beauty of Madhurashtakam. A Carnatic number ‘Enna Thavam Seithanai…’ came next followed by a couple of colourful dance depictions on Lord Krishna’s life. The special programme came to a close with the bhajan “Narayana Bhaja Narayana Bhaja Narayana Bhajan Narayan…” A string of Krishna bhajans followed next before Mangala Arathi offering at 0930 hrs.
Tiny tots from the Primary School as well as from Easwaramma School made a beeline, offering their ‘handiwork’ to Beloved Bhagawan on the auspicious occasion.
A speech by one of the alumni, Sri Prem Anosh, currently serving at Radio Sai Global Harmony, a special video presentation on Gokulashtami in the yester years coupled with a short musical offering were the highlights of the evening session. Delivering on the topic, Lord Krishna’s Assurance To Humanity, Prem spoke lucidly, explaining number of paradoxical episodes from the Avataric lives of Bhagawan Sri Krishna and Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai. For the august audience it turned out to be a veritable ‘enlightening’ feast on the auspicious Krishna Janmashtami evening.
Earlier, on 17 August evening, Prof Jandhyala Suman Babu, an erudite Telugu speaker, addressed the audience, speaking on Sri Krishna Sri Sathya Sai. This was followed by an audio broadcast of Bhagawan’s Divine discourse.
