Ugadi – Telugu New Year tomorrow…

Tomorrow is Ugadi, Telugu New Year that has been a permanent feature in the Prasanthi Festive Calendar for the past few decades. Celebrating the occasion, tomorrow morning, there will be Panchanga Shravanam (recitation of religious almanac pertaining to the coming year) by Sri Kuppa Siva Subrahmanya Avadhani followed by musical programme by students from the Institute.
In the evening there will be an Ugadi speech by Sri. VSR Murthy followed by a musical concert by Ms. Nithya Santoshini.
Ugadi is also celebrated in the neighbouring state, Karnataka, as new year. Maharashtrians, Sindhis, Punjabis and Manipuris also celebrate their new year tomorrow, in different names, as Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, Baisakhi and Sajibu Cheiraoba respectively.
