Today, on the penultimate evening of the Tamil Nadu Week Of Cultural Festivity in the immediate Divine Presence, noted Carnatic Vocalist Smt. Gayathri Girish presented a Carnatic concert here, in Prasanthi Nilayam.
Accomplished in her field with wide range of expertise, credited with concerts all over India and many parts of the world, Kalaimamani Gayathri Girish is a popular name in the field of Indian Carnatic Music.
She began this evening with a Ganesh Vandana, “Vinayaka Vighna Vinasaka…” and went on singing for an hour, presenting a range of classical numbers ably accompanied by Sarvasree Anantakrishnan and Shankar Narayanan on Violin and Mridangam respectively.
The second piece, “Saptaswara Shobillu…” was followed by an exclusive Sai composition, “Antaranga Sai Adbutha Sai…” that lent a lift to the evening spirits. She continued in full swing, singing a range of ‘finely-selected’ numbers that included “Aalokaye Sri BalaKrishnam Sakhee…”, “Akhilaandeshwari Rakshamam…”, “Jo Achyutananada Jo Jo Mukunda…” a lullaby par-excellent, leaving a lasting impression of ‘deep passion and intensity’ on the august audience.
Bhajans next ended with Mangala Arathi at 1815 hrs.
