Sai Seva In Uttarakhand

Ever since nature’s fury manifested in Uttarakhand  on the 17th June 2013, several units of Sathya Sai Seva Organisations have been supporting the efforts of the agencies  engaged in the relief work . The state unit of Sri Sathya Sai  Organisation volunteers  along with those from several other states have proceeded to the  distress area and have been offering all kinds of possible help, from distribution of food, water, medicine, tents to counseling of relatives of the pilgrims and the villagers of the affected areas. Able bodied Sai volunteers are also offering and giving assistance to the agencies currently involved in the relief work. Many more have been shown interest in joining the relief work.

All relief work will be coordinated at the nodal point of the State President of Uttarakhand (Sri Rajiv Chopra, contact no. 9415009854, email ID (sp.ssso.up@gmail.com).Intending state units and volunteers have been asked to contact him through their respective Organisational Unit – District President and State Presidents.

Recognising  that there are already several government agencies who are already performing hazardous relief work and heeding the advise and instruction of the State Government who have asked intending volunteers not to rush to Uttarakhand and hamper relief work, Sri Sathya Sai Organisations will concentrate on post disaster rehabilitation.

The Organisation is working out proposals to take care of the children who have been orphaned, to job train wives who have lost husbands  and  to rebuild villages that have been destroyed. The Sathya Sai School operating at Rishikesh will also be involved in some of  the relief work.

Keeping in mind the enormity of the task, the Sai Organisaion proposes to adopt some of the badly affected villages for holistic rehabilitation. A full survey of the selected villages will be made and then plan of rehabilitation formulated. The All India Organisation will make a medium term plan and submit it to the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust for its consideration.

Sri Sathya Sai Organisation’s emphasis will be on rebuilding thousands of shattered lives rather than doing anything dramatic at this time when our Army Jawans are performing such outstanding relief work.
