Bhoomi Puja For Water Project Performed…

District Collector of Anantapur, Sri V Durga Das on Thursday performed Bhoomi Puja for the proposed extension of the Anantapur Water Project that would cater to an additional 2.5 lakhs population across the three mandals, Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu and Bukkapatnam, in the district.

The Rs. 80 crore extension project would draw 10 MLD of water for 118 habitations with a total pipeline coverage of 411.5 km.

The Bhoomi Puja was performed at the Agricultural Market yard, near MRO’s office, Kothacheruvu after 0900 hrs. this morning, amidst holy chantings.

Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Member Sri RJ Ratnakar, Secretary, SSSCT, Sri Prasad Rao, Former L & T Chairman, Sri Ramakrishna, Chief Engineer for the Project representing the government Sri Kondal Rao, MLA, Puttaparthi, Palle Raghunatha Reddy were the other dignitaries graced the occasion.

The project is proposed with source as Chitravati Balancing Reservoir (CBS). Raw Water from Peddakotla CBR would be pumped throgh Pumping Main to Treatment Plant at Maddalacheruvu.

Treated Water from Maddalacheruvu would be pumped to the GLBRs at Kothacheruvu and Ganganapalli through sumps at Apparacheruvu, Krishnapuram Cross, Kesapuram and Kothacheruvu as intermediate stations. From these GLBRs, water would be supplied through Gravity Mains to all the 118 habitations in the three mandals.

The main Anantapur Water Supply Project was commissioned in the year 1995 and covers 731 villages providing drinking water to over 1.25 million population.

This proposed extension of the project was announced by the Trust during the 86th Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan held in November.
