Holy Ugadi Morning…
Thursday, April 11th, 2013
Today marks the advent of the Telugu New Year, bearing the name Vijaya, denoting Victory. Celebrating the advent ‘Panchanga Shravanam’ (recitation of religious almanac pertaining to the coming year) was conducted by noted Vedic scholar Rejeti Sriramacharyulu this morning at the Sanctum Sanctorum in Prasanthi Nilayam.
As the festivity marks the beginning of a new Panchanga, it is significant to conduct ‘Panchanga Shravanam’, hearing of the annual forecast as predicated in the Panchanga.
Delivering the Panchanga Shravanam in chaste telugu, the erudite scholar delved in detail, speaking about the greater significance of the festivity, speaking of the Supreme Glory Of The Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai. Concluding the recitation the Pandit read out the predictions for various star combinations.
Next to come was Divine Discourse aired on the public address system. Ugadi is not a annual celebration…the festivity has been on since ages, but man has not changed; he has to get rid off his ill-feelings. The day he fills his heart with love, the day he embraces the feeling of sacrifice, that the real Ugadi, echoed Bhagawan.
On this day one should commence fresh initiatives inculcating goodness…Past is past and we should live in the present that is omnipresent. Bhagawan concluded His Divine Discourse with the bhajan “Prema Muditha Manasey Kaho Rama Rama Ram…”.
Even as bhajans by the state troupe continued the Vedic scholar was felicitated by Senior Trustee and the Trust Secretary. Mangala Arathi offering at 0930 hrs.
The venue was tastefully decorated with symbolic festive greenish tinge – “Pachchathoranam” – parading all over. “Pachchathoranam”is a sign of prosperity and auspiciousness.
