Global Akhanda Bhajan – ‘Timeless Intonation For Universal Peace’ Commences In Prasanthi Nilayam

With a fervent prayer, singing the theme song, Akhanda Jyoti Jalaao Sai Mana Mandir Mein, Prasanthi Nilayam, the global spiritual capital commenced its annual conduct of Global Akhanda Bhajan this evening at 1800 hrs. This bhajan was preceded by a customary Ganesha bhajan.
Prasanthi Nilayam is meant to transform the whole world into One, a Global Prasanthi Nilayam. Popular Sai Bhajan “Narayana Bhaja Narayan…Narayana Bhaja Narayan…” sung by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai ‘HimSelf’ has a beautiful line of insertion, wherein He sings, “Sai Bhajana Sey Bhavasagara Ko Paarana Bhi Sikhaladiya”. This line speaks in unlimited volumes of the supreme importance of bhajans in Sai parlance. It is this Sai Bhajana Sadhana in the form of Global Akhanda Bhajan that Bhagawan has presented to this world full of worldly proportions, to alleviate the suffering by reinstating peace.
Today, the 10th day, second Saturday of the 11th month of November, is the scheduled day of the Global Akhanda Bhajan, Intonation For Global Peace. Along with Prasanthi Nilayam, simultaneously, Sai Centres around the world will be engaged in this 24-hour Marathon Bhajan Sadhana, following respective time zones. At Prasanthi Nilayam apart from the students, both boys and girls, varied groups from different Sai institutions will be taking their turns, serenading The OmniPresent Lord at His Sanctum Sanctorum.
This timeless spiritual exercise known as “Intonation For Universal Peace” had its humble yet profound beginning in the mid-forties at Bengaluru and ever since, every second week-end of the month of November has been a fixed schedule for this 24-hour marathon non-stop bhajan saga.
This practice precisely had its beginning in 1944, in the home of the late Dr. R.S. Padmanabhan of Bengaluru, where nine families then met in the Presence of Bhagawan to conduct bhajans.
From that humble beginning attended by over 150 devotees, now it has grown into massive global proportions, conducting bhajans every year simultaneously at Sai Centres all over the globe.
‘Sanathana Sarathi’ special 93rd Birthday issue was placed at His Lotus Feet during the occasion, by the Trustees along with the Convener of Publications Division and Editor of Sanathana Sarathi. The special issue has exclusive coverage on Bhagawan’s Health Care Mission.
