Dasara Jnana Saptaha Yajna commences…

Keeping up with the inestimable and priceless spiritual tradition set by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai, the week-long sacrificial ritual corresponding to the Devi Navarathri festival (Dasara) – Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna commenced in Prasanthi Nilayam this morning, marked with great spiritual fervour.
The legend has it that Dasara signifies the victory of the Devas over the Asuras, i.e., victory of Righteousness over the forces of evil. The Prasanthi Dasara, unique in its conduct and style, brings nostalgic memoirs of the grand festivity of olden days in the immediate Divine Presence of Beloved Bhagawan.
On this sacred morning, the proceedings commenced at 0830 hrs with a ceremonial procession of the sanctified Kalasha to the Poornachandra Auditorium, the Yajna Vedhi, to the accompaniment of full-throat Vedic incantations.
Agni Manthan, churning of fire by friction, was then performed leading to the commencement of the Yajna. This ancient age-old Indian tradition of ‘fire by friction’ is done with twin wooden logs, rubbing at each other. The fire generated and sanctified at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet was subsequently placed in the sacred sacrificial pit, marking the commencement of the week-long JnanaYajna.
Earlier, Kalasha Puja and Kumkumarchana and allied rituals were offered to Bhagawan at the bhajan hall that was followed by the Yajna Sankalpa by the Priests, swearing of sacred oath on the conduct of the ritual.
A packed ‘devoted’ house attended the morning function at the Poornachandra Auditorium.
Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva is into day-4 today, covering villages in and around Puttaparthi. As the Yajna continued, students joined their ‘call of duty’, dispersing with their Mission – Love in Action.
