Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital @ 10…
Saturday, September 5th, 2015
Imagine a group of medicos taking a ‘holistic’ break from their roaring medical practices, engaging themselves in holy, selfless Medicare activities. The genesis of Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital talks about this modern moving ‘miracle’ of selfless love, purely inspired by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The much ‘lauded’ service ideal called Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital is completing 10 years of service this year. Celebrating the grand occasion, the tireless SSSMH team presented a programme on the genesis and growth of this ideal service institution this evening here, in Prasanthi Nilayam.
Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital Programme was launched on March 30, 2006 by the Holy Hands of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This service is operational from the 1st to the 12th day of every month at 12 nodal points (base villages) drawn from 6 mandals from Anantapur district, with each of the 12 nodal points serving several surrounding villages. It is said, this mammoth project is covering over 5,00,000 population.
Sri Kamineni Srinivas, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, the Chief Guest for the evening, presided over the function. Dr L.V. Subramaniam, IAS, Special Chief Secretary of Medical Education and Dr Nalini Mohan, Commissioner, AYUSH were the other dignitaries present, representing the government.
Commencing the proceedings, Dr Narasimhan, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Hospital gave a detailed oral demonstration of the salient features of the role model service project.
Rededicating this most ‘outreach’ form of Medicare, as he preferred to call it, Dr Narasimhan first identified the three distinct phases of this stupendous health mission under Bhagawan’s care, these being the General Hospitals, Super Speciality Hospitals and the Mobile Hospitals. ‘Providing is different from delivery,’ said Dr Narasimhan, highlighting the importance of the mission, citing the instructions he had received from Bhagawan leading to the commissioning of the Project. Commenting on the ‘tricky triangle’ that the rural medical care is caught up in today, he then explained the highlighting features of the ‘mobile’ mission that makes it different from others. Identifying Regularity and Fixity in services being the hallmark of SSSMH, Dr Narasimhan also explained the all-round services being rendered for the overall development of the villagers. Last but not the least, Dr Narasimhan touched upon the spiritual component of the Project, which is community bonding. ‘If you practise medicine with love, it is Medicare and if you practise medicine without love, it is Medi-sin,’ concluded the Director, quoting Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai.
Speaking next, Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas gave a heartfelt appreciation of the activities of the Trust, especially of the Mobile Hospital. Promising to take inspiration from Bhagawan’s service projects, the Minister then took a pledge in Bhagawan’s Name to eradicate corruption in the medical front, and make the best of the facilities available for the service of the poorest of the poor. Briefly touching upon the governmental initiatives and some of the genuine problems being faced in the front, the Minister commented highly on the SSSIHL activities, where the Minister paid a detailed visit this morning.
Dr Kamineni Srinivas then released a booklet on the SSSMH Project. A documentary by Radio Sai on the Project followed next before the commencement of bhajans.
Mangala Arathi at 1835 marked the end of the proceedings.
