Monday, August 10th, 2015
Presenting rich cultural and spiritual diversity, Balvikas children from Haryana & Chandigarh offered two cultural programmes here in Prasanthi Nilayam today.
The first programme, a dance offering entitled Hara Bhara Haryana…, was followed by a dance drama on the life of Nachiketa, a potent story of great wisdom from the Kathopanishad.
Set to perform a special Yajna to win ultimate grace of ‘Moksha’, Saint Vajashravas decides to give away all his not-so-important possessions, appeasing the Lord. Upset with his father’s hypocritical, unscrupulous attitude, young Nachiketa takes him on , questioning, asking him to be diligent and honest in his dealing. Angry and upset with the young lad for his untimely, ‘immatured’ behaviour, Vajashravas, in a fit of anger, gives his word, sacrificing his own son to Yama Dharma Raja, as an offering in the Yajna.
The story next unfurls the young lad’s nonchalance, facing a daunting Yama. Immensely pleased at Nachiketa, for his fine attitude and greater wisdom, Lord Yama here offers Nachiketa three boons of his choice.
Ever curious about life, its intricacies, and life beyond too, Nachiketa, along with two other boons, seeks the ultimate boon of Atma Jnanam. In his attempt to dissuade the resolute young lad from this premium attempt, Lord Yama finally yields, granting him with prized Brahma Jnana, and thus the beauty of Kathopanishad.
The drama ended with a reference to Bhagawan’s Presence in the Kali Yuga, Who Is The Ultimate Source Of Supreme Knowledge.
Bhajans continued and the session ended at 1820 hrs. with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
