Wednesday, March 29th, 2017
Marking the culmination of the 2-day Ugadi celebrations, accomplished singer based out of Singapore, Ms Sushma Somasekharan presented a soulful Carnatic session this evening here, in Prasanthi Nilayam. Impacting amazing synchronicity among vocal and twin instrumentals, mridangam and violin, the concert for an hour had 6 gems, presented with great elan.
Akshay Padmanabhan on mridagam and Kum. Apoorva Krishna on violin played in tandem with the mellifluous vocal virtuosity of Sushma transforming the session into a veritable musical treat. The session was distinct with variety of songs, all sung with simplistic elan and great devotional fervour. Beginning with a Ganesha Vandana singing “Vakradunda Mahakaya…”, some of the evening numbers were “Rama Nannu Brovara…”, “Bhajare Manasa Sri Raghuveera…”, a Marati devotional on Lord Vitobha to end with “Jagadodhaarana…”.
Even as the bhajans by the Shivam group continued with verve, the artists and accompanists were felicitated. Bhajans ended with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
