Maha Poornahuthi offered…
Thursday, October 22nd, 2015
Vijaya Dasami, denoting victory over evil, is being celebrated today. Marking the occasion, the sacred Maha Poornahuthi to the week-long Dasara Jnana Yajna was offered this morning here, in Prasanthi Nilayam, witnessed by a capacity audience.
On the ‘victory’ labelled tenth morning of the auspicious Dasara festivity, the proceedings at the Poornachandra Auditorium began shortly after 9, with the Ritwiks carrying the Poornahuti samagri (paraphernalia related to the final function), along with the Dhaarini (a large silver spoon for feeding ghee to the Yajna fire) arriving at the venue in a procession, to the escort of Nadaswaram and Vedic incantation.
Amid nostalgic prayers from the thousands assembled, who were riveted to the sacred fire-pit, the auspicious moment arrived precisely at 0933 hrs, when the Maha Poornahuthi was offered to the Yajna Purusha to the escort of full-throat Veda chanting.
The session continued with auspicious chanting alongside rituals, followed by bhajans. This blessed venue had for many years adorned the beautiful Divine Form of The Yajna Purusha, clad in burning red, presiding over the function on many such Vijaya Dasami occasions.
Devoted assembly got an additional whiff of grace; even as bhajans started, priests along with Vedam boys dispersed into many groups sprinkling the ‘sanctified water’ from the Yajna upon the blessed confluence.
Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan at 10:15 hrs marked the end of the proceedings.
Grama Seva 2015 also came to a grand culmination this morning with the last leg of the seva offered in the Prasanthi precincts. Marking the grand finale of the seven-day Karma Yajna, women students from the Anantapur campus served the inmates of Ashram with Bhagawan’s prasadam in the morning. Students from the Anantapur campus along with faculties have this rare privilege of serving the Ashram residents, an honour bestowed upon by Bhagawan, ever since the inception of Grama Seva in the year 2000.
Students and staff along with hundreds of women devotees from in and out of Prasanthi precincts have also been active throughout the week, during night hours, packing and arranging the prasadam.
Holy Vijaya Dasami’s godliness has a rare tale of enhanced sanctity, as this was the chosen day, when Bhagawan at Shirdi entered into His ‘Seemolanghan’…withdrawal of His earthly Avataric form…
