Evoking notalgic memories of her one and only previoius trip to Prasanthi when she earned the heavenly blessing to sing for Bhagawan, renowned Hindustani vocalist Padmaji Phenany Joglekar presented an absorbing Bhajan Sandhya this evening on the third day of the ongoing 88th Birthday celebrations here in Prasanthi Nilayam. It was 12 years since that precious moment in the year 20o1 and today Padmaji vividly remembered the happening on that day, narrating her beautiful tale with Beloved Bhagawan.
This evening the programme commenced at 1700 hrs. with Padmaji beginning her concert with a Ganesh Vandana, Mangalacharana Gajanana… Continuing to sing for the next one hour she presented an assortment of devotionals that included Namami Namami Purushottam Ji Ram…, Tora Man Darpan Kehlaye…, Juoti Kalash Chhalke finally to conclude the presentation with a Prasanthi bhajan Jaya Panduranga Prabho Vittala… Conversing with the audience at ease the Hindustani singer even sang a beautiful Carnatic rendition, a Purandaradasa composition.
Intertwining her programme with lucid Hindi commentary Padmaji recalled the wondeful day she had in 2001 in Prasanthi Nilayam when Bhagawan, reciprocating to her fervent prayers blessed her to sing a number of songs only to please Him… The final reward on that evening came from Bhagawan when Bhagawan, on His way back to Yajur Mandir, acknowledged her telling that, “I want to tell you something…Today i am very happy.” At the end of the presentation the singer was accorded a round of applause by the appreciative audience in the Sai Kulwant Hall.
The aritist along with her accompanists were felicitated at the end of the presentation. Bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi at 1830 hrs.
