Sensing the ‘musical taste’ of the Master, Who is verily Naada Brahma, faculties of Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College Of Music presented a rollicking musical evening entitled ‘Sai Sangeet Saurabh’ today here in Prasanthi Nilayam. It is to be reminded that it was on the very same venue Bhagawan had graciously received many a musical offering by His students, nurturing the greater talent in them.
The programme commenced at 1645 hrs. with a Ganesha offering, “Vaatabhi Ganapathim” of Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar in Hamsadwani Raaga.
An instrumental on Veena followed, playing one of Bhagawan’s favourite compositions Ninnu Vina Namadendu in Navarasa Kannada Raaga, set to Taal Rupakam.
Next to come was a Hindustani piece in Raag Bihag set to Taal Tintaal. A Thyagaraja composition in Raga Jagan Mohini set to Rupak Taal was the fourth number that as followed by a Hindustani number in Raaga Nata set to Ektaal, both sung with great proficiency.
The grand finale was the masterpiece, a Carnatic composition by Papanasam Shivan in Tamil set to Raag Karhar Priya in Aditalam coupled with a scintillating Thani Avarthanam (Jugalbandhi), well received by the evening audience with rapturous applause.
Bhajans by the Music College band continued and ended with Sunday Special in Bhagawan’s Voice, “Prema Muditha Manasey Kaho…”. Mangala Arathi was offered at 1810 hrs.
