The Absences That We Owe THE PRESENCE

When darkness is defined as the absence of light, similarly, for the human when he lives in the Eternal Presence Of The Cosmic Creator, being aware of the profundity, he is freed from the absence, the absences that we owe The Presence. Deliberating on the supreme significance of being loyal to the Eternal Presence called Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sri Jullie Chaudhuri writes…
Oh! So we all speak of ‘the Presence’…imploring His Presence…yearning to feel His Presence…reliving glorious moments in the Presence…the magnanimity of the Presence…the sheer out-pour of pure, unadulterated love that gushes from the Presence. However, have we ever focused on the absences that the Presence is here to bring about to assist our growth, enhance our awareness…augment the expansion of our consciousness, our elevation along the ladder of evolution…our promotion from one grade to another in this Cosmic University?
And just what are these absences…?
These absences relate to a parting of ways…shrugging off…being devoid of…stopping the proliferation of…perhaps to a great extent annihilating – greed, jealousy, one-upmanship, anger, ego, pride, attachments, selfish pursuits, petty involvements with the self…and a host of other such irrelevant, trivial, inconsequential sentiments that boost the ‘I’ feeling…leading to subtle and gross manipulations…which ultimately do nothing to benefit any being, least of all the person indulging in it.
And so arrives yet another question! Have we been…are we being loyal to the Presence? Do we genuinely respect and revere It? Do we justly love this Pristine Presence?
If this is so, then does it reflect in any manner, albeit micro or macro, as we meander through our day to day life, facing a variety of situations…?
Then and only then, let us squarely face the fact – are we truly deserving of the Presence?
Though It wants nothing in return, are we giving our best to this Presence? This Presence that seeks nothing has incarnated time and again to introduce us all individually to our own divinity. Have we shown or felt even an iota of steadfastness or reciprocal care and concern or wholesome gratitude towards Its perpetually patient and endearing endurance with our infidelities towards our own soul, our own growth and reckless indulgences that make us take one step forward and probably a million backwards…? Isn’t it time we realize what we owe this Presence, that is forever present, hovering around us, looking to nourish, nurture, reassure, restore, support, bolster and redirect us towards our ultimate purpose, our truth and thence forth our sole goal…?
Let us intensely introspect – Are we willing though, to give our all to this ever loving Eternal Presence, Whom we refer to in this lifetime as Beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba…Who constantly exhorts us to Love All, Serve All; Help Ever, Hurt Never…to extend a kindred sentiment to all sentient and insentient beings through the practice of Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu?
Should anything have greater import than this – that we should work towards the absence of all such negative feelings so as to herald in…draw forth…attract that brilliantly radiant Pristinely Perfect Presence?
Come, dear sisters and brothers…fellow students in the vast classroom of the Universe…travelling companions along the Cosmic Pathway…let us reflect and manifest the absences we owe THE PRESENCE!
