The piteous cries of Mother Earth, the tears of those oppressed, the anxiety and distress of the ones who were exploited, the prayers of the wise, the entreaty of venerated sages, the adoration of those steeped in selfless devotion, culminated in the Appearance of Lord.

Each time that He chose to make an entrance divine into a womb pristine, He selected a ‘mother’ for Himself to ‘assist’ enacting the leelas of His marvelous manifestation.

Accordingly, we now unite to wish our Beloved Bhagawan a ‘Happy Birthday’, as God willed Himself to appear as Sri Sathya Sai in this age of Kali.
He, Who is the formless Supreme, the Eternal One, beyond ‘birth’, when He takes a form and allows us the blessed chance to wish Him a ‘Happy Birthday’, what should we gleam from this hallowed opportunity?

Let us stop and ponder a bit. Just what is it that would make the One Who is ever Blissful – ‘happy’? Let us carefully mull over words that poured forth from the divine lips and decide for ourselves when and how we should wish Him a ‘Happy Birthday’.
Sri Bhagawan Uvacha :
“My birthday is the date when divinity blossoms in your heart.”

“Of what use is it to honour the Avatar and hold the day when the Avatar took human form as sacred? The Message of the Avatar must be born, must become alive, must grow in you, in your heart – that is the Birthday, you have to celebrate.”
“The day when you resolve to practice My advice; to follow My directives, to translate My message into acts of service, and to engage in spiritual discipline – that day is My birthday for you.”
“Have constructive thoughts, consoling words, compassionate acts.”
“Be simple and sincere.”
“Practice the vocabulary of love – unlearn the language of hate and contempt.”
“Love must express itself as Service.”
“Love all beings; that is enough.”
“Try to conduct yourself in such a way as not to injure others.”

“Do not use poisonous words against anyone, for words wound more fatally than even arrows.” When you rise from the Jiva-sense to the Deva-sense, human-ness to God-ness, then there is no more birth or death. Liberation happens when you Love every being so intensely that you are aware of only ONE. Soak your heart in Love, soak your acts in righteousness, soak your emotions in compassion; then you attain God soonest.”

“There is only One religion, the religion of Love,
There is only One caste, the caste of Humanity,
There is only One language, the language of the Heart,
There is only One God, He is omnipresent.”

“Live in constant remembrance of God and looking upon all creation as a manifestation of Divinity in different forms and shapes.”
“Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu (Let all beings in all the worlds be happy). Include this universal prayer in your prayers every day. This is My birthday message to you.” (From the evening of 31st August 2008, as per Swami’s dictum, this chant flowed on as – Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu.)

And so, dear brothers and sisters and fellow travellers, may Beloved Bhagawan be ‘born’ in our hearts each second of every day of our sojourn on Earth.
Let not the celebrations end ever. Let it spill into every moment of our daily life. Let us pray that seeds of divinity may be sowed in our hearts, only to blossom forth as scented buds of love, peace and harmony.

Then, may it bloom further as fragrant flowers of service to all beings, only to be offered as befitting worship at the Beloved One’s cherished Lotus Feet.

Do you agree, that truly then it will remain an eternal – “Happy Birthday, Bhagawan”?

So profound a teaching in such simple terms. So clear cut, uncomplicated and easy to understand. But have we understood? This is not just what our Beloved Lord teaches, but this truth is vividly apparent in every moment of His Divine Sojourn on Earth. Whether it was in the Shirdi Era…in the Dwarkamai or at Parthi…in Prasanthi Nilayam, Beloved Bhagawan enveloped all beings with His selfless, ceaseless love. His doors were ever open wide for ‘all’ to be refreshed by the steady stream of His mercy and compassion.

Just what does He mean by Love All, Serve All?
If you only skim the surface of the Ocean, will you ever know its depth? Yes, the focus most definitely is on ‘Love’ and ‘Serve’ but have we given the ‘All’ part its rightful due?
Come now, let us put the spotlight on ‘All’.

“All are one…Be alike to everyone.”
Yet again a stress on ‘All’, for all in the Universe belong to Him – Mineral, Plant, Animal, Human as well as any other form in the vast expanse of the Cosmos unknown to us.

Eashwara Sarva Bhutanam Hridayeshe Arjuna Tishtati. 
These are Bhagawan’s words to Arjuna, when as Sri Krishna, He revealed to him the lesson supreme, through the sacro sanct wisdom of the Bhagawat Gita.

When we serve a category and have reservations or misgivings about other life forms failing to see Bhagawan in them, we choose to neglect and limit Him.

So also, when we harm or hurt ‘any’ being, we cause our Beloved Lord pain, for as the Omnipresent Hrudayawasa He resides in all hearts.

If we cannot help, let us not hurt and definitely desist from stopping anyone else from helping others, especially other life forms.

Let us serve Him in the ones that serve us, beyond caste, creed or religion, because all those that serve us offer a way out for us…and though they ‘serve us’, they are never our servants.

The need of the hour, right now, is to establish that one religion – that of Selfess Love.
It is only when we begin to see and serve Him in all that lives and breathes around us, experiencing an ever expansive love, as well as expansion in consciousness, that we evolve from being mere earth beings into human beings, thereby earning the title ‘human’.

Love All, Serve All – is an extension of love and compassionate service, which is the hallmark of any aspirant who professes love for the Divine. It is an awareness of His presence in every atom around us.

When we give food and water to other life forms, extending Narayan Seva, following the divine dictum of Love All, Serve All, we satiate the hunger and thirst of the Lord that chooses to live through those forms.

As we unite to celebrate the 86^th year of Bhagawan’s Advent, let us consciously choose to – Care For All Life Forms, Have Concern For Nature, And Respect For All Of Creation…knowing deeply that when we extend reverence to all beings, we are revering Bhagawan, the Lord that dwells in them.

“Divinity is embodied in all creatures and this fundamental truth should be exemplified in practice by man. He must extend the field of his Love until it encompasses the entire creation. It is only then that he will deserve to be a worthy recipient of God’s Love.”

There is a beautiful story, an incident, that illustrates Bhagawan unceasing love for His own creation, that knows no discretion.

This incident took place in far off Gauhati in 1972 which speaks not only of His compassion towards animals but also His omnipresence and unlimited love for His creation. The story came to be known to others only when a group of sixty devotees arrived at Prashanthi Nilayam after a tiresome journey of seven days in a special railway bogie to pay homage to the Lord on His birthday on 23rd November. The merciful Lord granted them a special audience in the Bhajan hall besides addressing them briefly. This was followed by a gift of ‘Vibhuti Prasadam’ by Himself to all with two additional packets to a girl among the group with the words ‘This is for your cat’. The group was pleasantly surprised at this compassionate gesture of Bhagawan but it brought tears of gratitude and devotion in the eyes of the recipient of that Grace Lakhi, as it was for her pet Minkie.

Minkie the kitten was saved from drowning in a city drain on a rainy day by Lakhi and was brought home much to the disgust of her elder sister, a staff nurse in the local hospital and a cat hater. Minkie grew in strength and size under the special care of Lakhi and so did the hatred of the elder sister for this unwanted unwelcome guest. One day unfortunately the elder sister’s stand was justified when Minkie took away a good bite of fish from the kitchen meant for some guests. The sister was furious at this and showered a rain of unpleasant words on Lakhi who, in turn, to give vent to her hurt feelings, resorted to caning of Minki with a big stick till the poor creature yelled in pain bitterly. Suddenly there was a big noise as some sixteen garlanded pictures of Bhagawan fell on the floor with a thud. Thinking that an earthquake only had caused this noise all the guests ran outside the house for safety. What surprised the elder sister more was that, only Baba’s pictures fell on the ground. She immediately realised her fault and appealed to Lakhi to stop beating the cat. Both the sisters were in tears and the cat, now on the table, shook her coat in relief only to sprinkle fragrant vibhuti all over there.

Six months had elapsed since this incident. But the all knowing Lord chose this pleasant occasion to not only confirm their experience but also to teach them a lesson that He loved the entire creation alike.

“Your devotion has to be expressed as worship of every one, as a living embodiment of Divinity. See God in every one. Practice that broad, inclusive type of Love.”

“What is true Love? Pure, unselfish Love towards all living beings, considered as embodiments of the Divine, with no expectation of reward, is true Love.”

Ah! Let us ruminate on these divine words… soft, sweet and sage utterances from Beloved Bhagawan.

Let His message be the breath that gives us life.

The flight has landed.
Lessons learnt in the ether, in the Cosmic Classroom, need to be practised on ground or we remain in the same grade. 
Let us unfasten the seat belts and set the mind free on the tarmac of life.
Are we ready to Love All, Serve All; Help Ever, Hurt Never?
Are we ready and willing to love and serve Beloved Bhagawan?

Together there is so much we can do…a Cosmic Brotherhood…reach out, restore, reinstate, recall, realign the limitless view…for this is the age of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai…so Supremely True…emanating love… giving ‘all’ their due…Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu…

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Sai Ram to all of you!

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is currently an intensive care patient at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, the hospital that He built for the poor who receive treatment there free of charge. He has cardiac and pulmonary problems. His condition is stable. There has been improvement, but He is still seriously ill. Bhagawan Baba, our Beloved Swami as we refer to Him, is, and always has been, in control of the human life that He has assumed. He is, and has always been, in control of His own destiny in this life that He Himself ordained to take place for the benefit of mankind. We, who are devoted to Him, pray that He will decide to recover and remain amongst us. We pray that He will continue to teach us, inspire us, bless us, and love us as the Divine Mother and Father that He is and has always been. We pray that He will enable all of mankind to accomplish the inevitable spiritual journey that awaits each and every one of us, the journey towards enlightenment and self realization.

This last November, the President and Prime Minister of India visited Bhagawan Baba on the occasion of His 85th Birthday. They acknowledged and paid homage to the monumental and unprecedented humanitarian accomplishments and services rendered by Baba over many decades.

Free schools, primary through University level, providing high quality worldly education and unprecedented spiritual education, incorporating the universal human values: Right conduct, Truth, Peace, Love, and Non-violence, into the curriculum at all levels.

Who has ever done such a thing?

Free medical services in mobile hospitals, general hospitals, and super-specialty hospitals where the poor are treated for ordinary maladies as well as complicated medical diagnostic evaluations, treatments, and surgery. All free of charge.

Who has ever done such a thing?

Conceiving and building a system of reservoirs, overhead tanks, wells, and thousands of miles of pipes conducting pure water to millions of poor people at no cost to the people or the government.

Who has ever done such a thing?

Most noteworthy and awe inspiring, is the following of kindred hearts, the procession of human goodness and selfless love, the good people who have joined together to follow Him. They imbibe His Divine Teachings and emulate the noble examples that He has demonstrated. Over the years, people from many countries, who had a dream, or a feeling, or a thought, or heard a voice, or read a book, were all suddenly inspired to act and become His devotees. There was no solicitation, advertisement, or campaign. There was no telephone call or written invitation. They received the message promulgated by the Divine One, our Beloved Baba, heart to heart. There are hundreds of thousands of devotees all over the world, perhaps millions of good hearted people, finding the light of His love deep in their own hearts, transforming their lives into beacons of virtue.

Who has ever done such a thing?

Now, He, who has been the veritable source of goodness and godliness, who has taught and sacrificed for the people, who has taken upon Himself a serious illness, is being falsely maligned in some quarters. Onerous prefabrications are promulgated. A litany of old, scandalous accusations, proven false repeatedly over the years, is being published irresponsibly. Multitudes of tender hearts suffer as a result of this callousness.

“Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do!”

I am hopeful that noble minded journalists will seek, find, and write about the “greatest story ever told”. They will seek the truth and humanity will be served. They will find the truth in the lessons taught by our Beloved Baba to mankind through His Words and His Works over many decades. They will find lessons for the spiritual redemption of mankind.

Let us pray that Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will decide to remain with us for the salvation of all. As He has taught, and may we all experience, that everyone of us are children of God. We are all essentially divine. Let each of us turn inwardly, find the light of selfless love – the light that enlightens. May each of us ultimately become the noble beings that we truly are and behave accordingly.

Let us all pray that Swami will hasten His recovery and move amongst us once again.

Our life at Your treasured Lotus Feet…
Maa…You know what You mean to us all…and so how can You say – pray with love and concern but not with anxiety… how can we not be anxious about what’s happening to our Mother…when all that ever mattered, matters now and will ever matter is You…our dearly Beloved You…

Maa, that is the Avataric frame…and you have always said it belongs to the devotees…Maa, You are not willing to use Your healing powers, with which You have cured millions, for Yourself…but that form is ours…bhakta’s property…

We implore You to heal this PRECIOUS, CHERISHED PROPERTY ASAP…as soon as possible…please Maa…the devotees are in pain, distressed, anxious, devastated… Maa, You are ever concerned about Your children…so am sure You understand our prime concern is You…come Maa…come back to us…we are waiting for Your darshan…

Everything is so still…because the heart is missing…life has meaning only because of You…do we want to live if You are not there…? Can there be rays of the sun without Lord Surya? Around what would Earth revolve, if there was no Sun? How can the waves remain if there is no Ocean?

Beloved Maa…we appeal to You on behalf of the elements five, we beg You on behalf of Mother Earth, each petal of every flower, each blade of grass, all the birds and animals – winged, finned, four legged or two – have sent a petition to You…this letter is their emissary…it represents their pain…for we feel their pain…and we know that Beloved Sai Maa feels it too and knows this to be true…

We also implore You, on behalf of the rivers and lakes, the seas and the oceans…every drop of water flows with Your name and is beseeching You through every ripple – Aao Maa…Tera intezaar hai…

Maa, what are these machines put on Your glorious physical frame? You have pampered them enough by fulfilling their longing to serve You…but now Sai Maa, we need You…leave those machines, they have been blessed enough and shower on Your other children the immense grace of the darshan of Your magnificent form.

You are our very breath, because of You, Vayudev has come into being Maa, and You need a machine to ‘assist’ You, Maa…? Please Maa, hear our plea…’Aao Maa, aakar darsh deekhao…’

Maa, toxins in the Divine Form, kidneys not functioning well, means we have disregarded and polluted Mother Earth and the water element – the rivers and seas and the oceans too; the lungs not working well reflects upon the gross misuse of the Air element and contamination here too; the heart of the Universe needing a pace maker shows we have driven out brotherhood, care, concern, compassion, love, mercy and forgiveness too…Maa, forgive us…we implore You…guide us to mend our ways…

You are our Mother…and we want You ever with us…we need You…the elements five need You, Mother Nature needs You…the flora and fauna need You…the Universe needs You…Don’t punish them for humanity’s folly, beloved One…we pledge to reform and Your presence with us is the only way out…humankind needs You to learn how to be kind… to transform earth beings into ‘human’ beings, to understand the meaning of the word human…forgive us we beg You, our grave blunders, our gross neglect, sweet Mother…resume the supreme benediction of Your darshan, sparshan and sambhashan…we are not so deserving, Oh Maa, but You are our Mother and Your love is incomparable and Your forgiveness – an innate part of Your boundless, limitless love…

Aao, Aao Maa, Aao Aao, Hum Mey Aakar Darsh Dikhao…
Aana Hi Padhega Maa…Aana Hi Padhega…
All our Love at your Lotus Feet…our hearts beat only because You reside in it…

Beloved Sai Maa…this is a petition on behalf of all Your children, at the behest of creation, an earnest appeal from the Cosmos to You – the Divine Mother…Come Maa, we await You at the gates of Prasanthi Nilayam…with tears of repentance and longing in our eyes and our arms open wide…
